Birth is unpredictable. Doula support is constant.
Say goodbye to doubts and hello to possibilities. You deserve to feel confident, informed, and deeply empowered as you grow and birth your baby.
Pregnancy, birth & postpartum support
Hiring a doula is about more than your birth plan. I help you to make a plan for the things in birth and postpartum that you can control, and is there to help you meet the things you can’t. Throughout our time together, my focus will be on ensuring that you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I’ll bring my expertise, compassion, and unwavering support to help you achieve the positive and empowering birth experience you desire.
Here’s what you can expect:
Intake Questionnaire and Meeting
Once we decide to work together, we’ll embark on a journey of getting to know you and your unique circumstances. We’ll schedule one or more prenatal meetings, during which we’ll dive deep into your birth desires, fears, and expectations. These meetings are designed to provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space to share your thoughts and concerns while receiving guidance and support.
Personalized Birth Plan
Together, we’ll create a personalized birth plan that reflects your wishes, values, and the vision you have for your birth experience. We’ll discuss your preferences regarding pain management, positions for labor, and any cultural or spiritual practices you’d like to incorporate. This plan will serve as a guide for you and your birth team, ensuring that your voice is heard and respected throughout the process.
Regular Check-Ins
Stay connected and supported by scheduling virtual or office visits with ease. Reach out to me anytime via email or text, and rest assured that if I don’t hear from you, I’ll proactively check in to ensure you’re not feeling stuck or in need of support.
Continuous Support
As your due date approaches, I will be available to you 24/7 for any questions, concerns, or signs of labor. I’ll join you at your chosen birthing location, offering encouragement, comfort measures, and advocacy throughout your labor and birth. Once your baby has arrived, my support doesn’t end there. I’ll continue providing guidance on postpartum recovery and self-care. I’ll be available to ensure that you have the support you need during the early weeks of parenthood: resources, referrals, recommendations for local parenting groups, breastfeeding support, and other relevant services.
What makes me different?
Experience. I have been providing birth support in Houston since 2013. I know what to expect and how to find quality care providers and a birthing place that suit your goals. I know what it looks like when you need encouragement, direction, real talk, or a snack. I know how to tell when people in the room are making you uncomfortable or frustrated. I know how to help your body release, how to use tools and interventions to your advantage. I know how to build bridges with difficult staff, and how to set boundaries in the birth space. You will never feel alone, and you will always know your options.
More experience. I’ve birthed five children, from hospital induction with epidural to home birth with midwives. Nursing struggles, and then success. Lack of support, and then a whole community. I know the ups and downs, and what an impact it makes to have quality support.
Training. I found very quickly that one doula training only provided one perspective of this work, but that was not enough. I have trained in many different aspects of doula support–advocacy, communication, optimal fetal positioning, perinatal mental health, trauma-informed care, queer and trans reproductive support, fertility, postpartum, loss–and there is always more to learn, more lenses through which to view the birthing experience. I know there’s no one right way to grow a family, and I’m equipped to support your unique experience.
Inclusivity. I’m proud to support all kinds of loving families. Becoming an informed ally and advocate for marginalized birthers and unique family structures was not a weekend workshop for me–it was my goal from the start.
